I have the 128G 395+. I really don't think it's worth to get this 192G one. having more mem is always good, however, the mem bandwidth is the real bottleneck

It looks like the memory bandwidth has grown a little bit, from 256GB/s to 273GB/s. Not sure if that's worth upgrading to to but I'd definitely want it if buying new.

If it weren't for the memory cartel, it'd definitely be worth it.

I don't understand the price, or the marketing. They promote 25 tokens/s for Qwen 3.8 Flash Next Q2, I get at least 2x that speed with an M2 Ultra for the same model on dQ4. I was hesitant buying Framework, but unless I'm looking from the wrong angle, this doesn't look like a good bargain for such usage.
They really should make a notebook board with the strix chip, like the zbook ultra g1a. I wouldn't mind the soldered ram having the opportunity to get this Kind of performance with no upgrade path if it had a good reason

Why would I trust them after the Framework laptop debacle?

What was the laptop debacle? I know people were upset over sponsoring DHH.

I'm guessing he's talking about a BIOS update causing bricked mainboards, to which they responded somewhat slowly. A descirption of the problem with Frameworks eventual response is here: [0] A charitable take would be that, because of the low number of affected customers, it took them a while to confirm that it was actually a problem for them to address. My personal issue with it was mostly that, as a company who is so much about repair and upgrades, that even their eventual response was to replace bricked mainboards, rather than offering the tools necessary to recover (even better would have been design decisions like having a backup bios chip to recover from botched upgrades).
As a framework owner, the situation is less than ideal, but given that they did eventually commit to replacing even out-of-warranty main boards, I very much wouldn't agree with calling it "debacle". Of course, maybe he's talking about some other issue that I'm unaware of.
are framework machines available in tier 1 cities in india? anyone got any ideas?

hoo boy that is a steep price for what you get. I am glad I bought big on hardware when this whole kerfuffle started, I cannot afford tech at this point (well, cannot justify the spend). I cannot wait for the AI bubble to pop, it'll suck, and will represent one of the biggest wealth transfers we've seen as a species, norways sovreign wealth fund will take a big hit, and it is a particular loss i'll mourne, but when things recover hopefully things can go back to BAU, because this is nightmarish.

Can you explain why Norway's swf would take a hit?

A huge component of it is invested in things that depend on the AI bubble. Some 20% of it's total from memory.
